Overview

Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, this role is based at the corporate office in Toronto and is responsible for creating and maintaining the framework and overall program management of various learning initiatives at Alamos.

Reports to:                  Vice President, Human Resources

 

Duration:                     Fixed-term contract (12 months)

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Design and develop content, materials and methods of delivery for all learning initiatives at both the corporate and site levels;
  • Partner with the regional leadership teams to understanding major learning & development challenges and gaps across the organization
  • Conduct needs assessments for different employee groups using recognized adult learning principles;
  • Ensure alignment of all departmental training plans with the overall organizational training strategy;
  • Audit existing learning and development programs and report findings and recommendations; 
  • Implement and oversee the execution of training programs; 
  • Liase with internal stakeholders to create a L&D schedule to ensure timely delivery of programs; 
  • Provide ‘train-the-trainer’ programs and support in the field as required; 
  • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness and ROI of learning and development programs initiatives and processes through analysis against metrics to improve efficiency and effectiveness; 
  • Draft a training budget;
  • Assess external delivery options;
  • Travel up to 50% of the time; and
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field;
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Learning and Development, with at least 5years experience in a mining environment; 
  • CTDP designation or equivalent; 
  • Knowledge of and experience in adult learning and organizational development, including course design, development and implementation; 
  • Professional attitude and well-developed interpersonal skills;
  • Aptitude for online learning options;
  • Highly motivated and solution- oriented with the ability to promote and lead organization best practice change initiatives;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; and
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, decision making and collaboration skills
