  • Overview

    Reporting to the Sr. Technical Service Engineer, the ventilation technologist is responsible for the control of air movement in the mine, to eliminate all ventilation safety and health risks, and provide information and guidance to the operations group to ensure ventilation systems are designed, installed and maintained in accordance with company policy and regulations.


    • Design installation of auxiliary ventilation systems;
    • Review inventory of fans and ventilation supplies and purchases;
    • Conduct weekly inspections of air ducts and fans for integrity issues;
    • Provide guidance on repairs to the various auxiliary ventilation systems to ensure that regulatory compliance is maintained;
    • Conduct mine ventilation surveys and maintain accurate ventilation plans for use in planning, operations and emergency situations;
    • Troubleshoot ventilation problems;
    • Conduct dust sampling underground and at the mill, produce monthly report and present findings to departments involved;
    • Prepare blast gas clearance prints;
    • Other tasks as assigned;


    • Mine Technician/Technologist technical diploma.
    • Minimum of 3 years of underground technical experience.
    • Experience in mine ventilation and auxiliary ventilation network design would be seen as an asset.
    • The individual should demonstrated a high level of energy, self motivation and strong organizational skills.
    • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, growing work environment.
    • The incumbent will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong commitment to working in a safe, socially responsible manner.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Autocad and Promine is required.
