  • Overview

    Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, the licensed electrician is responsible to ensure all electrical equipment and systems are operated and maintained in a safe and effective manner. The employee uses considerable independent judgment in making decisions and is able to perform advanced trouble shooting on equipment. Repair and maintain mine equipment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations.

    Responsibilities

    • Ability to troubleshoot all mobile and fixed equipment on site
    • Electrical and mechanical installations of sub-stations
    • Read, understand and interpret prints
    • Work with soft start and variable speed drives
    • Install, set up and maintain underground and surface substations and pump stations
    • Inspects equipment for proper performance and determines faults and malfunctions
    • Adjust equipment & repair/replace defective parts components or systems according to scopes of work.
    • Identifies additional repairs, compiles parts and labor estimates and communicates to supervisor.
    • Tests repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance
    • Completes accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, parts listings and submits drawing revisions.
    • Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives.

    Qualifications

    • Must be an Ontario Licensed Electrician
    • 3-4 years’ experience in similar functions.
    • Basic knowledge in mechanic and electricity
    • Good physical abilities,
    • Strong communication skills
    • Able to work independently and as part of a team
    • Available to work fluctuating schedules
