Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the Continuous Improvement Coordinator is responsible to coordinate the mine site’s continuous improvement and quality assurance activities.
Lead Continuous Improvement Projects by planning, leading and facilitating improvement projects including Six Sigma and LEAN (Kaïzens) or any mixed methodology within the project pipeline.
Insure the respective Management Plans align with Island Gold’s goals, objectives and vision.
Implementation Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure measurable and progress are in place in order to support the mine site operations through the information systems.
Develop human resources involved through Continuous Improvement Projects, mentoring, coaching and training projects teams in the use of problem solving tools and techniques that will be used to realize continuous improvement projects.
Support the Mine Sites Continuous Improvement teams in providing coaching and direction, as well as developing and achieving the overall strategy and goals of the mines sites.
Support the development and monitoring budgets to ensure operating margins are met and recommend and implement corrective actions to ensure production objectives and quality solutions are implemented.
Interact and collaborate with the mines site and senior corporate management within Alamos to support the overall goals of the corporation.
College or university degree in Industrial or Systems Engineering (other field in mining could be considered).
Completion of formal professional certification or designation in appropriate area of expertise.
A minimum of 5 years related work experience; previous experience in the mining industry is preferred.
Complete knowledge of the principles within a technical area or discipline.
Knowledge and application of continuous improvement techniques.
Effective ability to convey messages in an organized, clear and succinct way.
The individual should have demonstrated a high level of energy, self motivation and strong organizational skills.
Excellent inter-personal skills together with an ability to facilitate commitment to a cooperative team effort.
The individual will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to work with all levels of the organization, and a strong commitment to working in a safe, socially responsible manner. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required.
Proficiency in French both written and verbal would be an asset.
