  • Overview

    Reporting to the Exploration Manager, Lynn Lake the Staff Geologist will work as part of a dynamic team of geoscientists supporting exploration programs with the primary objective of adding resources at the existing deposits and to the discovery of additional economic gold deposits at Lynn Lake.  You will be based in Lynn Lake, Manitoba and will work a 20/10 rotation schedule. Travel from your home to site, and room and board, will be provided at the Company’s expense.

    Responsibilities

    Primary Responsibilities:

               

    Under the supervision of the Project Geologist, the Staff Geologist assists with carrying out the Lynn Lake exploration programs. This can include but not necessarily be limited to the following tasks: 

    • Conducting a variety of geological activities at both the deposit- and regional-scale including core logging, geological mapping, prospecting, ground geophysical surveys, and geochemical sampling programs.
    • Collecting and interpreting field observations utilizing the regional geology and appropriate ore deposit models;
    • Research, data compilation, and data entry for a variety of geological, geophysical, and geochemical datasets
    • Interpretation of data to make recommendations for exploration targets;
    • Other duties as required.

    Qualifications

    Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

    • A minimum bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Science;
    • 3-5 years of experience in mineral exploration.
    • Understanding of orogenic gold deposit models.
    • An understanding of geological settings, deposit models, and ore-forming processes as it pertains to the latest concepts of gold deposit environments.
    • Keen willingness to continually learn and develop.
    • An ability to think across-scales and to integrate diverse, large datasets.
    • A commitment to safety, environment, and community.
    • Must be able to navigate in remote areas using compass and GPS;
    • Possess a valid Canadian Driver’s License and clear Driver’s Abstract;
    • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and attention to detail;
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team;
    • Experience with Leapfrog, ArcGIS, MicroMine, and other related software platforms.
