  • Overview

    Reporting to the Mechanical Superintendent, the Mechanical Supervisor will be responsible to supervise the day-to-day safe activities of maintenance employees on surface and underground, ensuring that the production and maintenance targets and schedules are met as forecasted. This role is also responsible for contributing to the development of maintenance employees and the effective operation the department while respecting health, safety and environmental standards.

    Responsibilities

     

     Oversee the efficient operation of the Maintenance teams

    § Responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all activities related to maintenance (electrical / mechanical)

    § Answers queries and handles requests related to maintenance (electrical / mechanical) which includes problem solving and judgment

    § Complies with established methodologies and quality standards related to maintenance (electrical / mechanical) while at the same time recommending new or alternate approaches

    § Escalates issues requiring knowledge about the broader business impact of decisions. Works with mentor as needed

    § Assist in development and implementation of budget

    § Prepares reports and completes documentation related to maintenance (electrical / mechanical)

    § Maximizes equipment utilization and minimizes downtime

    § Monitors, analyzes, and implements changes to ensure maintenance is preventative, predictive, and proactive

    § In collaboration with procurement, purchases equipment for current and future needs

    § Monitors and reports on the achievement of targets and revises strategies as needed

    § Other duties as required

     

    Supervise the mill operating employees.

    § Provide assistance to Senior Supervisor/Superintendent in the hiring of maintenance employees

    § Provide employees with clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required

    § Ensure that training is provided in accordance with the future needs of direct reports and mine staff

    § Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports

    §  Complete all time entry, vacation requests and scheduling

    §  Other duties as required.

     

     

     

    Ensure health & safety, and environmental standards are respected

    § Promote health & safety at work and conduct accident and incident investigations

    § Carry out workplace inspections using work cards

    § Analyze accidents and broken equipment to find solutions and avoid repeating the event

    § Prepare and animate monthly team meetings reinforcing HSS standards

     

    Provide leadership to the team

    §  Provide employees with clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required.

    §  Ensure that training is provided in accordance with the future requirements of direct reports and maintenance staff.

    §  Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.

    §  Complete all time entry, vacation requests and scheduling

    §  Promote and maintain a high-performance culture

     

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

     

    • Technical training or certification or Diploma of Collegial Studies
    • 5-8 years of related experience.
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in supervisory roles.
    • Good understanding and working knowledge of the applicable legislation and regulations for Mines and Mining Plants
    • Self-starter who is able to anticipate needs and work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, growing work environment.
    • The individual should have demonstrated a high level of energy, self-motivation and strong organizational skills.
    • Excellent inter-personal skills together with an ability to facilitate commitment to a cooperative team effort.
    • Good communication skills, both orally and written with both internal and external contacts and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required.
