  • Overview

    Reporting to the Production Engineer, the Drill & Blast Engineering Technologist will provide drilling layouts, coordinate production drilling, develop long-hole stoping strategies, blasting result analysis, production performance analysis and other mining engineering related tasks.


    • Prepare drill prints for long-hole stopes, ventilation raises or service holes as required to achieve production objectives;
    • Analyse drill hole breakthrough surveys and liaise changes to plan required to production engineer;
    • Prepare blast prints for stopes and ventilation raises;
    • Analyse and issue CMS surveys from stopes;
    • Participate in monthly production reconciliation process;
    • Participate in the calculation of monthly production KPI;
    • Participate in the development of mid-range production forecast (0-3 months) with team of short range mine engineers;
    • Support development of long range (LOM) mine plan design, scheduling and development
    • Involvement in construction projects as required;
    • Participate in blast vibration monitoring and blast optimization efforts;
    • Support senior engineers by having an active role in various projects around the mine


    • Mine Engineering Technologist with 5-7 years’ experience. BSc in Mining Engineering with 2-4 years’ experience also acceptable.
    • Previous experience in underground drill and blast design;
    • The individual should have demonstrated a high level of energy, self-motivation and strong organization skills;
    • Exceptional attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment;
    • The incumbent will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong commitment to working in a safe and socially responsible manner;
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, AutoCAD and Promine is required. Deswick experience considered an asset.
